Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, an American-Canadian singer and songwriter. She has released more than 20 albums. Her music is classified as folk-rock and alternative rock but is also influenced by hip hop, punk and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement, and was among the pioneers to establish her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd of 1970, the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had become acquainted while at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian heritage and her mother was from Montreal. Ani DiFranco wrote and sang 32 Flavors. The song was released on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. The song is featured on the film soundtrack for the Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it became known that she had planned to hold the three-day event on the site of a Louisiana former slave plantation. Although she cancelled the workshop, many people (including our own paper) were not able to feel guilt. DiFranco apologized again a few days following. The singer is well-known for her Little Folksinger style, but she's collaborated with many artists as well as genres ranging including Pete Seeger to Chuck D. The singer hails from New Orleans. Ani diFranco as well as Kristen Ford are together. When she was 14, she had begun writing her own songs. The songs were performed in the bars and cafes throughout her teenage years. DiFranco is a student who graduated in the age of 16, from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts High School, was the first in classes at Buffalo State College. The baritone Ani plays is an individualized Alvarez guitar which was created through a series of consultations with Chrys, an Alvarez artist representative at the time. The guitar is equipped with their System 600 preamp and has all solid woods--a cedar top mahogany back and sides, and an fretboard of ebony. The house she lives in is near New Orleans with her husband with two kids and Lefty the long-legged pup who wanders into and out of view as we talk. Thirty years into her professional career DiFranco admits to having doubts about seeing herself in the rearview mirror. Punk/folk singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco ascended to musical heroine status at the age of 25 with both the public and critics after her seventh album Not A Pretty Girl in 1995. Then she had a bigger popularity with Dilate the following year. The pop-rock hit song from 1972, Brandy (You're a gorgeous girl) was composed by American band Looking Glass for their debut album Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie, the lead guitarist for Looking Glass and co-vocalist wrote the song. Its conclusion explained in the song Do Ani & Luke get married? The answer is no. Ani and Luke will not be married.
